Your team, together.
Fixtures, availability and match days made easier for players and clubs.
OPEN SPORT FOUNDATION · FOUNDING PROPOSAL
We’re building a player-led grassroots sport movement so more people can find a team, play regularly and make friends. We’re starting with hockey in the UK.
UK first. Community minded. Made for the people who play.
01 / WHY WE EXIST
The best part of sport happens together. The team spirit, the friendships, the first match, the unexpected win and the joy of showing up.
Our mission is to make amateur sport more accessible, affordable, welcoming and enjoyable by connecting people and clubs, supporting locally run competitions and building open-source tools.
02 / OUR BIG, AUDACIOUS GOAL
Our long-term ambition.
One person. One team.
One match at a time. ↗
03 / WHAT WE'RE BUILDING
An open-source platform for grassroots clubs. Open Sport will have no player subscription. Clubs set and collect their own fees.
Fixtures, availability and match days made easier for players and clubs.
Celebrate personal milestones, Player of the Match and the people who lift others up.
Tell your team's story through moments, results and local club identity.
04 / TRY IT FOR YOURSELF
Step inside a fictional hockey club and see how Open Sport works. Explore fixtures, teammates, match teas and the captain's tools. No account needed.
Best for smaller screens. Your practice choices stay in your browser.
Having trouble seeing the embedded demo? Open Open Sport directly ↗. The demo is a working prototype with fictional players and no live club data.
05 / FOUNDING CHARTER · DISCUSSION DRAFT
The founding group will decide the legal structure, membership and voting rules, and how any national federations would work with the Foundation.
Everyone deserves dignity and a genuine chance to take part. We propose fair, evidence-based policies, clear ways to raise concerns, and safeguarding and privacy built in from the start.
Players, clubs and volunteers should help make decisions. We propose elected leadership, published decisions and budgets, and independent routes to appeal.
Clubs should retain local autonomy within shared standards. We propose open-source software and reinvesting any surplus in grassroots sport.
06 / WHERE WE ARE
We're beginning with grassroots hockey in the UK, creating a platform where every team sport and every type of player can eventually feel at home.
Brand, community, architecture and our first club conversations.
Bring teams together for a genuinely useful match-day experience.
More clubs, more sports, more moments worth sharing.
07 / COME PLAY A PART
We're building Open Sport with grassroots clubs, players, volunteers and people who believe sport should bring us together.
Founding members will help shape the charter. UK hockey clubs can help test the pilot. Volunteers can help with outreach, safeguarding, design or software.
