Open Sport is a global, inclusive, community-owned sporting movement and technology platform designed to make grassroots team sport accessible, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.
We want to bring more people into team sport, particularly women, girls and young people, and build communities where participation, teamwork, friendship and belonging matter more than winning.
We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to play, make friends, contribute to a team and experience the joy of sport.
For Every Team Sport
Open Sport is designed for all team sports, from hockey, football, netball and rugby to basketball, cricket, volleyball and beyond.
Whether you're starting a new team, running a local community club, organising a regional league or managing an entire national sporting federation, Open Sport provides the technology to make it happen.
Run Your Club from a Dugout in the Rain
We understand that grassroots sport is run by volunteers, often juggling jobs, families and countless responsibilities.
Your club should be able to run from a dugout in the rain, using nothing more than your phone.
Open Sport makes managing a team simple, wherever you are.
Organise fixtures, select squads, check availability, collect match fees, arrange match teas, communicate with players, celebrate achievements and keep everyone connected.
No complicated administration. No expensive software. No unnecessary bureaucracy.
More time playing. More time coaching. More time together.
A Complete Platform for Sporting Bodies
Open Sport aims to provide the digital infrastructure needed to operate an entire sporting organisation, from a single team to an international federation.
Our platform will support:
- Membership and registration: Manage players, clubs, teams, officials, volunteers, supporters and membership eligibility.
- Club and team administration: Organise committees, roles, finances, subscriptions, insurance, safeguarding and communications.
- Leagues and competitions: Create leagues, divisions, tournaments, fixtures, results, tables, rankings, promotion and relegation.
- Fixtures and match management: Schedule games, manage venues, team selection, availability, match officials, results and match reports.
- Officials and referees: Register, qualify, appoint and support referees, umpires and other match officials.
- Safeguarding and welfare: Maintain safeguarding responsibilities, training records, appropriate access controls, welfare procedures and incident reporting.
- Governance and democracy: Support constitutions, committees, elections, general meetings, member voting and transparent decision-making.
- Discipline and disputes: Manage codes of conduct, complaints, disciplinary procedures, appeals and fair, accountable decisions.
- Coaching and development: Support coach qualifications, training, player development, participation programmes and pathways into sport.
- Facilities and equipment: Manage pitches, venues, bookings, equipment and shared resources.
- Finance and funding: Support membership fees, match fees, sponsorship, grants, fundraising, budgeting and financial reporting.
- Participation and recognition: Celebrate personal milestones, volunteering, teamwork, improvement and sporting achievements.
- Communications and community: Connect members, clubs, leagues and governing bodies, share news and promote events.
- Reporting and insight: Understand participation, monitor growth, identify barriers to inclusion and help sporting organisations make informed decisions.
Our ambition is to provide an integrated, open-source ecosystem that can support the everyday needs of grassroots clubs and the complex responsibilities of national and international sporting organisations.
Inclusion Is Our Foundation
We are building a sporting community where everyone feels welcome, respected and valued, regardless of gender, age, ability, identity, background or sporting experience.
We particularly want to encourage women, girls and young people who may never have considered joining a team, who feel intimidated by competitive sport, or who have previously found themselves excluded.
Sport can be competitive, exciting and challenging. It can also be playful, social, supportive and fun.
We prioritise participation, friendships, teamwork, health and wellbeing. We celebrate people who turn up, help others, improve their skills and contribute to their communities.
Our success will be measured by the people we bring together, the friendships we help create and the opportunities we open up.
Owned by the Sporting Community
Open Sport is being developed as a not-for-profit, democratically governed, player-owned initiative.
Our technology will be open source, with no Open Sport subscription fees for individual players. Clubs retain control over their own membership and participation charges.
We want the people who play, coach, volunteer and organise sport to have a meaningful voice in its future.
Our Ambition
One million people playing amateur team sport every week.
One million opportunities to participate.
One million reasons to belong.
And countless friendships, teams and communities made stronger through sport.
Open Sport. Everyone deserves to play.
